1970s House & Garden Renovation

I am coming to the end of a 1970s detached house renovation and contacted John for advice on boundary of the property, rejuvenation of old shrubs, pond area refreshment, new patio area and lawn reduction. We did the online consultation via Zoom, where I was able to walk John through the property and get his expert advice. This was an excellent consultation where I got access to John’s vast experience of gardening. John suggested changes that I wouldn’t have thought of in my wildest dreams which I’m currently acting on.

New Build Garden From Scratch

We were recommended John from a friend who had previously used his services and had been very happy. From the get-go, we found him extremely easy to deal with, knowledgeable and practical. He gave us a very simple to do list in order, which was exactly what I had wanted!

He knew exactly what plants and shrubs would be suitable on our tricky site, so I feel we off set the cost of his service very quickly, by not wasting money on greenery that would never have taken. All in all, we were delighted with the service. John is a lovely guy and we would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an expert regarding landscaping and planting.

New Build (New Garden)

John gave us fantastic guidance when we were creating our garden in our new build. He advised particularly on soils, raising beds in wet areas, plant positioning and design. He guided us in the best positions for plants and in particular saved our struggling lavenders as they were planted in wet areas of the garden and badly needed to be raised up to better drained soil. John gave tips for mulching which we have started to use on our beds to make our garden more sustainable and to keep better control of weeds. He also advised on how to create a wild flower area which we have began the process for next year.

John is very easy to work with and has extensive knowledge of what will work for different gardens. I would highly recommend consulting with John prior to starting your garden project as he will give you a better idea of what will work or not work for your particular site and save you a lot of money by helping you to choose the right soils, plants and layout for your site.

New Home (Large Garden)

I recently used John Jones’ garden consultation services and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Having recently moved to a new home with a large enough garden, I was anxious to make the most out of the space. However while I absolutely love gardening, I know very little about it and have a very limited knowledge about how to get the most out of the every aspect of my garden and what plants and shrubs would work best in these conditions.

John came to view my garden and very soon after provided me with a really comprehensive plan outlining what kinds of plants and shrubs I should be thinking about based on my location and light. The plan is designed to give interest throughout all of the seasons so there will be no more trial and error for me, wasting money on shrubs that are totally unsuitable for the areas I was putting them in! The plan that John worked out for me will help me to achieve my dream garden over the next couple of years. I have completed two areas already & am absolutely delighted with the results. If you love your garden but need some very knowledgeable guidance and direction, look no further than John, you won’t be sorry!

New Build (Garden)

We consulted and chose Master my Garden because we were both gardening novices and with a new build we just didn’t know where to start. We loved the concept that John was offering about helping us master our own garden. We had both lower and raised beds in our patio area and surrounding the house. John guided us on what to plant and where.

Everything flows really well and we have lots of colour throughout the year. We look forward to watching the plants and flowers grow and to see which are our favourites. In addition our grass and a number of trees on our site were struggling. John was able to advise what we needed to do and what feed etc. Highly recommend.

Mayo National School

Mayo National School received funding for an outdoor classroom, with this in place we employed John Jones as our garden consultant.  He designed a wonderful enclosed garden with timber fencing and an arch way giving the classroom a defined area and privacy. Portuguese Laurel hedging was planted alongside the fencing to soften the view. Flower beds were added with various shrubs, perennials and bulbs with a particular focus on attracting pollinators. This was great from both and educational perspective and also for our school to be a positive influence when its comes to providing for our pollinators. The walk way is of fine core chips and 4 picnic tables complete this very special area. This garden is a fantastic place for our students to learn and play in a fantastic garden. Thanks to John for his expert guidance and practical approach.
